ABOUT ME
I have been an audio engineer for a long time.
A native of the New York City area, I've been at this music thing all my life. It took my first session, playing congas on a jazz track at Marvin Gaye's studio in Hollywood to capture my imagination and seal my fate. I was nineteen years old,
Before starting a freelance career, I worked my way up through the ranks, starting as a maintenance tech and upwards through assistant engineer and then recording engineer. The bulk of that experience was garnered at Bearsville Studios, a renowned world class studio in Woodstock, NY, where, whilst working with many successful artists, producers and engineers, I learned my craft . Many, many records were recorded there.
So there I was, the happy recording studio engineer type person when one of my friends made a recommendation to Natalie Merchant that she consider hiring me to mix front of house for her as she co-headlined the Lillith Fair Tour with Sarah McLachlan. She did, and I said yes and added a new "service" to my resume.
I've mixed Front of House for James Taylor, Joe Jackson, Joan Baez, Aimee Mann, Todd Rundgren, Ani DeFranco, Ian Hunter, Zap Mama, Coco Rosie, Jeffrey Gains and more.
Eventually I would be asked to consider taking on management responsibilities, and so "Production Manager" and "Tour Manager" were added to my resume.
When I'm not working, you'll find me doing all sorts of stuff I like and some things I don't (cleaning gutters comes to mind).
I'm married to Jill Marie VanBuskirk, a kind and lovely soul I met in kindergarten, literally the girl next door. We've been together since high school. We are blessed with two beautiful daughters and an ever expanding family.
For recreation, I like playing sports, fishing, photography, kayaking, beach bumming. I play tennis and poker... and rarely cheat at either.
I am a likable person. "Helluva guy" some say.
